Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Established in 1993, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy provides lifelong refuge to chimpanzees. They are not native to Kenya (and it's the only place where you can see them in the country), but the sanctuary cares for orphaned and previously captured chimps from across Africa, and today more than 35 chimps live safely at Sweetwaters in spacious natural enclosures separated by the Ewaso Nyiro River. You can visit Ol Pejeta for the day or stay overnight at the numerous accommodations options, and the conservancy fee covers visits to Sweetwaters.
