Alum Bay and the Needles

At the western tip of the Isle of Wight is the island's most famous natural landmark, the Needles, a long line of jagged chalk stacks jutting out of the sea like giant teeth, with a lighthouse at the end. It's part of the Needles Pleasure Park, which has mostly child-oriented attractions. Adjacent is Alum Bay, accessed from the Needles by chairlift. Here you can catch a good view of the "colored sand" in the cliff strata or take a boat to view the lighthouse. Yarmouth, a charming fishing village, is a 10-minute drive from Alum Bay.
