Carvoeiro
This busy resort town has managed to maintain some of its fishing-village charm. Small beaches lie at the foot of steep, rocky cliffs, and waves have sculpted the distinctive yellow rock into intricate archways and stacks encrusted with fossilized shells. Its central location is another of its assets, as it makes a good base for accessing both the east and west coasts.
