South of Oaxaca City is a string of craft villages, the most important of which are San Bartolo Coyotepec, where you'll find gorgeous black pottery, and Ocotlán, known for its whimsical figurines made by hand by four local women, the Aguilar sisters. Their shops sit side by side on the main road, so they are easy to find.
