Old Strathcona, Ritchie, and Garneau

Neighborhood
ABOUT

Built on the remnants of the town of Strathcona, high-rise apartments mix with historic homes and walk-ups in this hip and walkable entertainment district. Many of the city’s theater venues and festivals are based here, including North America’s largest Fringe Festival. Whyte Avenue is the heart of this neighborhood, and it is lined with some of the city’s best bars, restaurants, and shops. The adjacent neighborhoods of Garneau and Ritchie offer similar experiences, one of which is Happy Beer Street, where nine different distillers and brewpubs provide a wide variety of outstanding beverages and food.
