ABOUT
The refuge, which encompasses nearly 2 million acres, was originally established to protect the Kenai moose, and it remains the finest moose habitat in the region. Wildlife viewing is popular, of course, and the canoeing and kayaking opportunities attract many visitors each summer.
Moose are the most commonly seen large animals in the refuge—it was originally named the Kenai National Moose Range.
