Kartchner Caverns State Park
Kartchner Caverns is a large and beautifully maintained cave system where visitors can walk through the fantastic stalactites and stalagmites while learning about the unique and fragile ecosystem. It’s a wet, "live" cave, meaning that water still rises up from the surface to continually add to the multicolor calcium carbonate formations already visible. Amateur cavers discovered Kartchner Caverns in 1974, and it opened to the public in 1999.
