Ione
Ione (pronounced “I own”) dates from the gold-rush era, when it served as a supply center for mines and miners. The biggest attraction these days, rail bike excursions through oak-studded canyons, arrived on the scene in 2023. Ione’s other draw is a former home for wayward juvenile males that's open a handful of days each year. A small slice of the original downtown contains historic mid-19th-century buildings.
