The doughnuts at Nomad are big, fluffy, colorful, and would make Homer Simpson drool. Its rotating menu of internationally inspired doughnut flavors is made with natural ingredients, like real fruit, and almost all of them have a vegan counterpart as well. Just make sure to show up early—doughnuts this good don't stick around for long.
Despite Old Town's (somewhat accurate) reputation as a tourist trap, Old Town Mexican Cafe has been a favorite for locals and tourists since opening in 1977. Expect crowds from open until close, with a line of guests hungry for popular breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, omelettes, and huevos rancheros, as well as lunch and dinner specialties like fish tacos, carne asada, enchiladas, and much more. The concept behind Tribute Pizza initially seems like a gimmick—each wood-fired, oven-baked pizza is a "tribute" to one at another famous pizzeria, whether in Brooklyn, Texas, or even Costco. But however campy in their presentation, the pizzas at the spacious, modern restaurant—which is housed in a converted former post office—are among the best in town, whether made from all-vegan ingredients or smothered in spicy salami. Choose from the signature 13-inch Neo-Neoplitan style, thick Grandma style, or a whopping 28-inch floppy New York-style pie. Sides and other plates round out the menu, from the strange addition of (amazing) Szechuan spicy noodles to wood-fired focaccia bread with a variety of spreads.
The flagship location of Venissimo offers a gigantic selection of hard and soft cheeses from around the world, plus all the goodies that go along with it—dried meats, fruit, crackers, honey, olives, chocolate, and more. Assemble a plate to munch on, or grab one of their made-to-order sandwiches like the "Sweet" sandwich, made with ooey-gooey Brie and fig jam.
With window service from its colorful, street-art-adorned kitchen and outdoor seat-yourself tables, this is an ideal spot for a quick bite, but that doesn't mean it's not substantial. The outdoor eatery serves savory and delicious abundant plates of traditional Filipino pork, sausage, and chicken dishes, along with signature snacks like lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) and their head-turning purple ube pandesal (bread rolls).
