West of the Plaza

Although most of Downtown’s commercial activity beyond the Plaza extends south and east, a handful of notable restaurants, shops, and inns do lie to the west, especially along Guadalupe Street between Alameda Street and Paseo de Peralta and the historic blocks just west. At the intersection of Paseo de Peralta and Guadalupe, you’ll find the expansive DeVargas shopping center, which has a few notable shops and eateries, a movie theater, and some larger grocery and big-box stores—handy if you just need basic supplies (and still within walking distance of the Plaza).
