Bar-strewn Beech Street in the surf-centric West End is the setting for a lively "bar crawl"; each place has a distinct flair and flavor.

Jetty Bar & Grill

At the easternmost part of the West End of Long Beach, this is a great place to start your night of bar hopping. Have a capirinha or watermelon-jalapeño mojito and enjoy tapas with friends. The bar has live music, daily specials, and theme nights like Wild West Wednesday and Summer Sunday Funday.

Minnesota's Grill & Bar

This popular restaurant and nightspot features an expansive dance floor and top DJs, two huge projection screens with 10 additional HDTVs—usually tuned to a game—and newly renovated indoor and outdoor dining. Nightly food and drink specials include Mussel Monday with all-you-can-eat mussels and a live steel-drum band, Half Price Night on Thursday, and a happy hour on Friday. Try the craft lobster roll, offered in three varieties and packed with five or six claws of fresh Maine lobster.

Nolan's Pub

If you're looking for a chic beachy bar with a hipster young crowd, this is definitely not the place for you. This is your friendly neighborhood watering hole with a game on the TV, a jukebox in the corner, a pool table, and bocce ball out back (with tournaments). The beer isn't fancy and there are no "signature cocktails," but if you hit it at the right time, you might get complimentary hot dogs fresh off the grill or free pizza. Bring cash—that's all they accept here.

The Saloon

A local neighborhood classic, The Saloon has large windows opening to the sidewalk and there's always a crowd (mostly in the twenties age group) spilling out onto the backyard deck. There's live music on Thursday and Sunday.

Speakeasy

With a loungy-chill vibe, this quaint neighborhood bar is a great place to grab a beer and bite to eat (like the popular avocado fries) with friends. The crowd is friendly if a bit loud, and the Friday night live music always good.
