The Zachary-Tolbert House 150 Year Old Home in Cashiers, North Carolina
ABOUT

Cashiers (pronounced CASH-ers) is not quite a town. Until recently, it was just a crossroads with a store or two, a summer getaway for wealthy South Carolinians escaping the heat. But after the building of many exclusive gated developments, the Cashiers area, at a cool 3,500-foot elevation, now has several new restaurants and stores. Most hotels and other accommodations are in nearby Highlands, about 20 minutes away by car via U.S. Route 64, the Waterfall Byway.
