Nahariya
This seaside recreation spot, Israel’s northernmost coastal town, was built along the banks of a river lined with eucalyptus trees. (The town's name comes from nahar, Hebrew for "river.") Nahariya is popular with vacationing Israelis who throng the small shops and cafés along the main street, Haga’aton Boulevard. It's a good place to stop for lunch if you're traveling along the coast. One of the region's most beautiful stretches of sand is just at the end of the main street. Achziv Beach, just 4 km (2 ½ miles) north of town, is one of the country’s finest.
