Hilton Frankfurt City Centre

$$$$ | Hochstr. 4, Frankfurt, 60313, Germany Fodor's Choice

This international chain's downtown Frankfurt outpost is still primarily a business hotel (with lower rates on weekends), but it's still welcoming to kids and pets, not to mention a hip lobby bar (Gekkos) that is definitely worth a visit. In addition, it has all the perks the business traveler wants, from secretarial services to video conferencing facilities.

Pros

  • Entirely no-smoking
  • Indoor pool
  • Large terrace overlooking a park

Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt

$$ | Unterschweinstiege 16, Frankfurt, 60549, Germany

The sylvan beauty of this family-friendly hotel is surprising, considering that it's less than one mile from the airport and connected to it by a steady stream of free shuttle buses that operate 24 hours. It's right on the edge of the city forest out of which the airport was carved, and has lots of paths for hiking, running, and biking (the hotel rents bikes), plus a 250-year-old forest house that is now a hotel restaurant. There's also a lobby bar and a rooftop terrace with a spectacular view of the airport and the Frankfurt skyline.

Pros

  • Many rooms overlook park
  • Indoor pool and gym
  • Four restaurants, including a 24-hour bistro

Cons

  • Restaurants are expensive
  • Far from downtown
  • Far from public transportation

The Westin Grand Frankfurt

$$$ | Konrad Adenauer Str. 7, Frankfurt, 60313, Germany

Those who like downtown Frankfurt will appreciate the Westin's location, just steps from the famous Zeil shopping street, plus all the features of a high-end chain hotel, including a fitness room, spa, pool, and sauna. Re-opened in 2022 after an extensive renovation, each room has a Westin Heavenly Bed (they're also available for your dog). There is an impressive collection of museum-quality vintage cars in the lobby, and in an unusual retreat from the public areas, where smoking is forbidden, a swanky cigar lounge. Four restaurants, including Sushimoto with a Japanese menu, are on the premises.

Pros

  • Kids stay free
  • Indoor pool
  • Loaner work-out gear for the gym

Cons

  • On a noisy street
  • Chain hotel feel, including large, impersonal lobby
  • Mostly business guests during week
