2 Best Hotels in Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos and the Baja Peninsula

Background Illustration for Hotels

In Cabo San Lucas, there's a massive hotel on every available plot of waterfront turf. A pedestrian walkway known as the Marina Golden Zone is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. It’s anchored by the sleek Puerto Paraíso mall that curves around the entire perimeter of Cabo San Lucas harbor, itself packed with wall-to-wall sportfishing and pleasure yachts. Unfortunately, a five-story hotel complex at one edge of the harbor blocks a small portion of the water view and sea breezes from the town's side streets, but it can't be denied that Cabo is a carnival and a parade, all at once. The short Pacific coast beach just over the rocky hills at the west end of the marina has a more peaceful ambience, though monstrous hotel projects have gobbled up much of the sand here, too. If being right on the water isn't a primary concern, it is well worth checking out some of the smaller, independently owned hotels sprinkled around the downtown area. Several offer gracious, hacienda-style accommodations with a personal touch that huge hotels cannot match. For a tranquil setting close enough to all the action, opt for one of the resorts near Land’s End.

Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa

$$$ | Av. Solmar 1A, Cabo San Lucas, 23450, Mexico

Architecture melds perfectly with natural surroundings as hotel suites dramatically hug cliff and sea and subterranean stone passages open to infinity pools framed by cactus gardens and raked sand. The resort is practically on top of its namesake rock formation, a sight that will not cease to amaze at any point of your stay. Solmar has been owned by one of Cabo's founding families (before becoming a hotelier, patriarch Don Luis Bulnes Molleda managed the old fish cannery; today, there's a statue by the marina in his honor) for over 50 years; though the property has been rebuilt and reimagined since, it's still a special slice of San Lucas history.

  • As close to El Arco as you can get

Cons

  • 75% of rooms are for timeshares

ME Cabo

$$$ | Playa El Médano, Cabo San Lucas, 23410, Mexico

Break out the bottle service: ME Cabo is the perfect base for affluent travelers looking to let loose. Thanks to a partnership with Grupo Rosa Negra, Mexico's premiere high-end, high-energy restaurant group, there's on-site action every afternoon and evening, and beautiful people abound. The same can be said for the scenery; the view of Land's End from the open-air lobby is particularly jaw-dropping. ME Cabo sits on one of the only swimmable beaches in town and was the first hotel in Los Cabos to receive a Queer Destinations distinction for commitment to inclusivity.

  • Party hot spot
  • Chic and comfortable rooms
  • Pet-friendly
