Ontario has both Canada's political capital, Ottawa, and its commercial capital, Toronto. It's also big (four times the size of Great Britain), rich, and growing. You can ice-skate on a canal in Ottawa, ski at first-rate resorts, indulge in Shakespeare in rural Stratford, sail on four of the Great Lakes, or go get lost in a wilderness that stretches all the way to the shores of James Bay. And in the past 20 years or so, Ontario has shuffled off its staid, Scottish ways and learned to eat and drink well—even how to party—thanks largely to an influx of settlers from just about every country on earth.
