Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve
Need to check "Visit active volcano" off your bucket list? A trip to Aniakchak will do the trick. The journey to this amazing natural landmark and its enormous caldera is not for the faint of heart or those looking for some laid-back fun in the Alaska sun. The terrain is just as rugged (and bear filled) as it was when the Aniakchak volcano first erupted 3,500 years ago. Travel options to this remote yet phenomenal national park haven’t changed much either.
