In addition to Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve, the enormous Becharof and Alaska Peninsula National Wildlife Refuges are also prime areas for volcano viewing. Couple these volcano-laden horizons with hundreds of species of birds, fish, and land mammals, and your Alaska experience will be hard to beat. Just be sure to dress appropriately for climate extremes.
