Once it opened in 2024, Leila became the hottest—and hardest to get—reservation in town, but if you manage to acquire a table, or you take your chances for an open bar seat, expect an immersive experience as magical as it is overwhelming. From the waterfall wall to the sparkling star-studded ceiling to patterns exploding off of every tapestry, table, and tile, it can be hard to tear your eyes away from it all to focus on the menu, which pays homage to owner Arsalun Tafazoli's Iranian heritage.

Named as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant for good quality at reasonable prices, Mabel's menu includes snacks and shareables like clam toast and smoked potatoes (be sure to ask for a side of the homemade hot sauce) and dessert like the Basque cheesecake that's moan-out-loud delicious. Top off your meal with a cocktail or two from the gin-heavy options, or try one of their bottles of wine from Spain or Portugal to commit to an immersive experience.

The exterior of Communal Coffee reads "Coffee + Flowers," and though that's not the name of the café, it's also not inaccurate—you actually can pick up a bouquet while you're there. But while there's plenty to keep patrons occupied—including a curated selection of housewares, books, and chocolates—the main attraction is still the fresh-brewed coffee and flaky, buttery pastries.

Chef and owner Accursio Lota showcases his Sicilian heritage with freshly prepared pastas made in-house daily with plenty of wine, conversation, and community to go along with the meal. Gluten-free pastas are also available, and save room for a slice of tiramisu alla nocciola (if you can).  Use the free parking lot behind the restaurant.

For street food with style, pop into Falafel Heights for a made-from-scratch falafel wrap or chicken shawarma bowl, made Palestinian-style for easy snacking. Be sure to get a few dips on the side for an extra kick.

This North Park spot is an authentic and eclectic stop for Texas-style barbecue with patio dining to preserve the feeling of a backyard fete, even if someone else is cooking. Meat is served by the pound (or half- or quarter-pound—there's no minimum order when you're selecting between brisket, hot links, smoked turkey or ribs) or available as a sandwich, for those who prefer some carbs with their protein.  Every Sunday is Asado Domingo, with popular Argentine barbecue specials like morcilla with chimichurri and polenta.

The doughnuts at Nomad are big, fluffy, colorful, and would make Homer Simpson drool. Its rotating menu of internationally inspired doughnut flavors is made with natural ingredients, like real fruit, and almost all of them have a vegan counterpart as well. Just make sure to show up early—doughnuts this good don't stick around for long.

This isn't your average taco shop. The Oaxacan-inspired menu by chef José Cepeda uses traditional ingredients and spins them on their heads to create dishes like the popular crab corn doughnut and crispy duck carnitas served with his famous black mole. The atmosphere is moody, the drinks are strong, and the guacamole is worth every penny.

Pick up an authentic Vietnamese iced coffee blend, or one of the specialty options like Hanoi egg coffee or Saigon frappe. Don't mind the line—the baristas know how to hustle, so it moves quickly.

The concept behind Tribute Pizza initially seems like a gimmick—each wood-fired, oven-baked pizza is a "tribute" to one at another famous pizzeria, whether in Brooklyn, Texas, or even Costco. But however campy in their presentation, the pizzas at the spacious, modern restaurant—which is housed in a converted former post office—are among the best in town, whether made from all-vegan ingredients or smothered in spicy salami. Choose from the signature 13-inch Neo-Neoplitan style, thick Grandma style, or a whopping 28-inch floppy New York-style pie. Sides and other plates round out the menu, from the strange addition of (amazing) Szechuan spicy noodles to wood-fired focaccia bread with a variety of spreads.
