Beach Club at The Boca Raton

$$$$ | 900 S. Ocean Blvd., Boca Raton, FL, 33432, USA Fodor's Choice

Dotted with coral lounge chairs, umbrellas, and white-sand beaches, this contemporary resort looks as if it were carefully replicated from a retro-chic postcard. An annex of the larger Mediterranean-style The Boca Raton (but set on the downy sands rather than the Intracoastal Waterway), the casually elegant property has 210 rooms, ranging from 420-square-foot standards to 800-square-foot one-bedroom suites overlooking the Atlantic. The rooms and suites showcase a spectacular design featuring honed marble and cerused woods complemented by vibrant coral velvet accents. Each room features a wet bar complete with a water filtration system so you can refill your water bottle for on-the-go hydration, flat-panel TVs, plush bedding, Acqua di Parma bath products, complimentary beach bags and flip-flops, and—most important—easy access to the sand and sea. Guests can lounge by a trio of revamped swimming pools with cabanas and a bar, or linger with a cocktail and leisurely lunch in the on-site Marisol, or you can consult your personal concierge for suggestions. For a change of scenery, head back to the main complex of The Boca Raton (just a short ride away via free shuttle or water taxi) for other dining options, including the trendy Sadelle's.

The Boca Raton

$$$$ | 501 E. Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL, 33432, USA Fodor's Choice
Addison Mizner built this Mediterranean-style hotel in 1926, and additions over time have created a sprawling, sparkling resort, one of the most luxurious in all South Florida and a destination unto itself. The hotel has a particularly stunning private beach, which it shares with its beachfront outpost, Beach Club at The Boca Raton. There is also a stunning pool area with a lazy river, slides, bars, and a restaurant that both kids and adults can enjoy. In 2022, the resort underwent a complete overhaul with a $200 million facelift that gave all rooms and common areas a refresh. There are a variety of lodging options: Cloister at The Boca Raton features traditional rooms in the historic quarters that are small but warmly decorated; Tower rooms have a serene contemporary feel; the adults-only Yacht Club rooms include floor butlers, complimentary breakfast, and access to a fine-dining restaurant; and Bungalows are ideal for longer stays, with family-friendly layouts. The beach is accessible by shuttle or water taxi, creating a unique experience that makes a day at the beach feel like an adventure. In addition, there are two fitness centers; the tennis center, Racquet Club, with 14 tennis courts and 12 pickleball courts; one 18-hole golf course (an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary), driving range with Trackman Range, and a pro shop; and Spa Palmera, with 44 treatment rooms and a Turkish-style bath. There are more than fifteen bars and restaurants on the grounds, including brunch spot Sadelle's and chophouse The Flamingo Grill.

Pros

  • Superexclusive—grounds are closed to the public
  • Decor strikes the right balance between historic roots and modern comforts
  • Plenty of activities

Cons

  • Daily resort charge
  • Pricey
  • Conventions often crowd common areas
