For a dramatic setting inside the park, you'd be hard-pressed to improve on a stay at the historic Zion Lodge: the canyon's jaw-dropping beauty surrounds you, access to trailheads is easy, and guests can drive their cars on the lower half of Zion Canyon Scenic Drive year-round. Rooms in the main lodge buildings, which are modeled faithfully on the 1920s original, are rustic in style but with modern amenities, and each has a porch or balcony furnished with rocking chairs so you can enjoy the view. The neighboring historic Western-style cabins, which have been sensitively updated over the years, do not have TVs but are equipped with gas-log fireplaces and have porches.

Pros

  • Ideal location if planning a long day hike in the canyon
  • Incredible views
  • Home to the park's only restaurants

Cons

  • Pathways are dimly lit
  • Spotty Wi-Fi, poor cell service
  • Books up months ahead
