The Best Restaurant in Cheyenne, Laramie, and Southern Wyoming, Wyoming

Background Illustration for Restaurants

Almost anywhere you dine in southern Wyoming, beef plays a prominent role on the menu; prime rib and steak are often specialties. Standard fare at many small-town restaurants includes burgers and sandwiches, and several eateries serve outstanding Mexican dishes. The pickings can be a bit slim for vegetarians, although most menus have at least one vegetable pasta dish or meatless entrée. Jeans and a T-shirt are acceptable attire for most places (even if the folks at the next table happen to be dressed up). Cowboy hats are always welcome.

Sweet Melissa Café and Front Street Tavern

$$

If you need a break from steaks and burgers (or if meat is never your thing) this charming downtown café is the local spot for vegetarian and vegan eats, as well as carefully crafted cocktails brought right to your table from the adjoining tavern. The menu is extensive and diverse, with Asian, Mexican, and Mediterranean influences, and with a good selection of desserts and a menu for kids, too. Front Street has a "historic pub" feel and offers a long list of signature and classic cocktails, as well as wines, beers, and various types of liquor—even absinthe.
