The Best Restaurant in Belem, The Amazon

Background Illustration for Restaurants

Belém, like the rest of the state of Para, has a rich and long history of good eating and dining. Unlike Manaus, here you will find a lively foodie scene, with new restaurants and bars appearing regularly, and which use old ingredients in unusual ways. Paraenses take their food seriously. One excellent example is the Bosque do Remanso restaurant which uses the açaí plant, usually eaten as a dessert in the form of a sweet pulp, to make a savory-sweet farofa eaten with main courses, something you won’t find anywhere else.

Palafita

$ | Cidade Velha

Ice-cold beers served in buckets, fruit caipirinhas, and pastéis de pato (deep-fried duck pastries) served with postcard-perfect views of the bay are why locals love Palafita. Palafita has music on weekend evenings. During the sunset happy hour, it is a great spot to mingle with locals.
