Statia has several basic rental apartments, and pleasant, reasonably priced homestay accomodations available as alternatives to hotel rooms. Don't expect much beyond cable TV, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. Check with the tourist office for options and reservations. The only luxury option is the four-villa Knippenga Estate complex in which rooms can be rented individually.
At one of the island's more casual digs, the views of St. Kitts and Nevis are drop-dead-gorgeous, and each airy-yet-cozy bungalow has one or two bedrooms with simple teak wood furnishings, tile floors, ceiling fans, louvered walls, French doors, kitchenette-equipped patios, and wood-accented bathrooms featuring corner showers. A small bar sits beside the attractive L-shape swimming pool. Cribs are available.
