Why We Like It

Manon les Suites doesn’t tiptoe around its theme; it leans in hard, and the result is (Bali)utiful.  Forget muted Scandinavian palettes and minimalist decor—here, you’re stepping into a tropical fever dream—the air hums with relaxation and indulgence, offering lush escapism in the city’s tourist nucleus. Years ago, the owners traveled to Bali to visit a close friend and were instantly captivated by the island’s design ethos—the seamless blend of natural materials and effortless elegance. Inspired by its beauty, they brought a touch of Bali back to Copenhagen, infusing their space with its warm, organic charm. Its central location, just minutes from Tivoli Gardens, the serene lakes, and bustling Rådhuspladsen, allows you to easily alternate between city exploration and poolside lounging.

Manon les Suites, with its lush, vibrant, and (dare we say?) sexy ambiance, is a wholly unexpected tropical escape nestled in the heart of Copenhagen. Its design–a captivating fusion of Danish and Balinese elements– is a sight to behold, conjuring the island spirit amid the metropolis. The sun-drenched courtyard, brimming with cascading greenery, is at the heart of this unique design, where the iconic pool, Junglefish—made famous by Instagram (and rightly so!)—steals the spotlight.

Room

The rooms at Manon les Suites are just as bold and immersive as the rest of the hotel. Think four-poster canopy beds draped in flowing curtains, reclaimed wood furniture, and lush tropical plants, which add pops of greenery against warm, earthy tones. Thoughtful vintage-inspired details—like rotary phones, leather armchairs, and organic cotton linens—create a cozy yet effortlessly dapper atmosphere. Each suite includes a complimentary first-round minibar (two sodas, beer, and chips) and a mini kitchen, making it easy to settle in.

Despite its central location, all suites feel spacious, though Petite Suites are more compact. However, they still deliver the same luxurious aesthetic as their larger counterpart, making them an excellent choice for solo travelers or couples seeking an intimate escape. If you’re after extra space, Classic Suites provide even more room to spread out while keeping the hotel’s signature dramatic design.

Poolside Classic Suites put you in the heart of the action—perfect for those who want easy access to the show-stopping courtyard, but not ideal if you’re looking for peace. For the best of both worlds, book a suite on floors 3 to 5, where you’ll get tranquil views without the rooftop or pool area buzz. For a truly special stay, the sixth-floor Petite Suites offer treehouse-like balconies that feel like private retreats. They have sweeping views over Copenhagen, from the serene lakes to the urban creativity of Reffen and even the futuristic ski slope atop CopenHill.

You Should Know The poolside suites are stunning but can be noisy. The 6th floor has skyline views but occasional restaurant noise, especially during breakfast.

Bathroom

The bathrooms in the Petite Suites and Classic Suites are small but chic, with modern fixtures and natural stone sinks that align with the eco-friendly ethos. While the design is visually appealing, functionality suffers slightly due to the limited space. The shower area, bordered by a clingy curtain, could be upgraded to a more modern glass enclosure. Still, the luxurious bath products—a mix of organic oils, soaps, and creams—make the experience feel indulgent.

Tip The creams are exceptionally luxurious (and eco-friendly!)–be sure to sneak a few in your suitcase.

Lobby

Stepping into the lobby feels like crossing into another world, where Copenhagen’s moody and often gray skies are replaced by cascading greenery, warm lighting, and a distinctly bohemian energy. Small but striking, the space is lush with hanging plants and natural wood accents, giving it the feel of a tropical hideaway rather than a hotel in the city’s heart. It’s effortlessly cool, setting the tone for a laid-back and indulgent stay. And if the message wasn’t clear, the towering “Eco Hotel” sign above the check-in desk ensures you get the memo—subtlety isn’t exactly the vibe here.

The crowd is just as eclectic as the decor—expect a mix of international travelers, design-conscious creatives, and couples looking for a romantic retreat. The staff is friendly and approachable, leaning more toward easygoing hospitality than the crisp formality of a traditional five-star hotel.

Pool

Let’s be clear: Junglefish isn’t just any old hotel pool; it’s how the hotel entices international guests (yes, even in the grayest of January months!). But we get why: Nestled in an open-air atrium, it’s framed by cascading plants, glowing string lights, and a tropical vibe so intense you’ll forget you’re in Copenhagen. Whether floating in its warm waters, sipping cocktails on a sunbed, or just soaking up the beauty of the lush surroundings, Junglefish is pure escapism.

This isn’t the kind of pool for swimming laps or making a splash—literally (and let’s be honest, cannonballs would probably get you some side-eye). Junglefish was created for lounging, people-watching, and unapologetic indulgence. At night, the space transforms into a magical retreat with soft lighting reflecting off the water, shadows dancing through the greenery, and some sultry jams (and, yes, some equally sultry… PG-13-type times.)

The proximity to Junglefish is unmatched for the lucky few staying in poolside suites—just steps from your bed to the water.  Sunbeds line the perimeter, and if you snag one early (the pool opens at 8 a.m.), you can sip a passionfruit martin while the city bustles outside.  For everyone else, the pool is worth the early wake-up to claim your spot before it becomes the day’s social hub (and pro tip: from the 6th-floor balcony, have a friend snap a photo of you lounging or swimming in the pool below. Trust us, your IG feed will thank you).

You Should Know On Friday and Saturday nights, the pool has a livelier, more social vibe, often attracting couples and a party crowd. If that’s your scene, enjoy! Daylight lounging might be better if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

Spa

The spa at Manon les Suites is snug in the best way, with just two massage rooms that make the experience feel exclusive and personal—like a secret retreat just for you (or you and your partner because the couple’s massages are chef’s kiss). Treatments are handled by an external massage team, who know how to treat guests like royalty. While the massages aren’t specifically Balinese (don’t let the jungle vibes fool you), they still add an indulgent layer to your stay.

The sauna and steam room on the sixth-floor rooftop add an understated touch of Nordic luxury. For the truly adventurous—or those visiting in the summer—there’s a bucket shower for a full-on Scandinavian wellness moment. Treatments like honey-sugar scrubs and sea salt exfoliations carry the hotel’s tropical ethos into the wellness space, offering a natural and indulgent way to unwind.

Tip The rooftop sauna and steam room are accessible by a short outdoor walk through the restaurant. In winter, bring a robe and a change of clothes to stay warm.

Gym

The fitness room is surprisingly robust for a hotel with such an intense “chill by the pool” vibe. It is spacious and outfitted below the lobby with everything you need, from cardio equipment like treadmills and ellipticals to rowing machines, free weights, and resistance machines. Bonus points for its proximity to the massage rooms; after a delicious sweat, you can head straight into the hands of a pro.

Dining

The global aesthetic inspires Chapung, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant. It serves fresh, organic dishes that blend Danish staples with international influences. Breakfast is often a guest highlight, featuring rye bread, yogurt, and pastries alongside unexpected options like sesame noodles, stir-fried vegetables, and chia puddings—because, remember, we’re in Bali! For lunch and dinner, dishes from around the world are the highlight, from Asian stir-fries to European pasta, ensuring a culinary journey for every guest.

The menu is fresh, with choices like roasted salmon, quinoa salads, falafel with herb dressing, and creamy risottos for lunch and dinner. The truffle fries are a crowd favorite, striking the perfect balance between indulgence and irresistibility.

Room service is equally impressive. For a modest delivery fee (about $11), you can enjoy light bites like seaweed caviar with blinis and hearty dishes like a chicken sandwich with chili mayo. It’s the perfect excuse to stay in your Balinese robe and continue lounging.

You Should Know If breakfast is included in your reservation, go early. The rooftop restaurant fills up quickly, and can feel claustrophobic during peak hours.

Drinking

The cocktails at Manon les Suites are as bold as the décor. The poolside bar serves tropical classics like passionfruit martinis, ginger mojitos, and the cheekily named “Sex in the Pool” (though don’t get any ideas…please!). The drinks are fun, refreshing, and perfectly paired with Junglefish’s lush surroundings. (And yes, you can sip them in the pool.)

Head to the rooftop bar for a laid-back vibe. Panoramic city views, a curated wine list, and expertly crafted cocktails make it the ideal spot for a sunset drink or a quiet evening toast to a day well spent.
