Why We Like It

Nimb Hotel’s seamless integration with Tivoli Gardens provides guests with a front-row ticket to Copenhagen’s most storied attraction. While Tivoli, dating back to 1843, is a lively wonderland during the day, Nimb guests enjoy the rare privilege of wandering the park’s lantern-lit pathways before the crowds arrive or watching the fireworks from their private balcony with a glass of wine. Every room stay includes complimentary Tivoli ride wristbands for all guests, which are valid every day—including check-in and check-out days—offering seamless access and added value.

Fodor's Expert Review

Plenty of hotels boast about their proximity to famous landmarks—Nimb Hotel doesn’t need to. Located inside Tivoli Gardens, the amusement park that inspired Walt Disney himself, this Moorish-style boutique hotel feels like part of the story. With its arched colonnades, glowing lanterns, and air of quiet exclusivity, Nimb Hotel delivers a kind of old-world magic you don’t just see—you feel. The best part? Here, that enchantment doesn’t stop at Tivoli’s gates. It follows you straight to your room.

PROS

  • Elegant rooms with designer furniture

Room

At Nimb Hotel, each suite feels more like a private residence, designed with a collector’s eye for detail. No two rooms feel the same in both wings, thanks to a mix of handpicked antiques and vintage Danish pieces—think 18th-century Chinese cabinets, classic Scandinavian armchairs, and unique finds that make each space feel curated rather than designed.

The original building’s rooms lean dreamy and cinematic, with low lighting, dark wood floors, and deep velvet seating that practically begs you to stay in with a bottle of wine. These rooms are ideal for winter stays, where the real wood-burning fireplaces create the ultimate Danish hygge atmosphere.

The newer wing’s rooms feel fresh and modern, with spacious layouts and private balconies that put Tivoli Gardens right at your doorstep. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light,

constructing a mix of soft tones, polished wood floors, and handpicked furnishings to keep the aesthetic sleek yet inviting. The real star, though, is the balcony—big enough actually to use, whether you’re sipping coffee in the morning or watching Tivoli’s lights sparkle at night. In summer, you might even catch the faint hum of live music drifting up from the gardens, making it feel like you have the best seat in the park without leaving your room (and wrestling the crowds!).

A thoughtful touch? The complimentary “Hygge Bar” in every suite is stocked daily with handmade chocolates, salty Danish licorice, kombucha, and some local beers—because luxury is all in the details, right?

You Should Know If you want a view of Tivoli, avoid Room 38—it’s the only one without a view of the gardens.

Bathroom

True to the brand, Nimb Hotel’s bathrooms feel like private spa retreats. Many feature freestanding Agape soaking tubs, perfect for long, candlelit baths after a day of exploring via foot or bike. The fixtures are from TONI’s Christiansborg collection, initially designed for Copenhagen’s royal palace, while the sinks are hand-carved in Italy. Every bathroom is stocked with Amouage bath products, Dyson hairdryers, and a complete amenities box with everything from razors to a manicure kit.

You Should Know Only one standard room lacks a bathtub, so if a soak is a must, opt for a suite.

Lobby

While Tivoli is the heart of Nimb, the hotel itself is a reason to stay. It’s a sanctuary of quiet, high-touch lavishness—fireplaces flicker through the older buildings, handpicked antiques add depth and personality, and the service is so intuitive it feels almost telepathic. Initially built in 1909 as a Turkish-style bazaar, the hotel has evolved into one of Scandinavia’s most exclusive stays. Nimb  Hotel reopened in 2007 as an exclusive 14-room boutique hotel and has since grown to 38 luxurious rooms and suites. Owned and operated by Tivoli Gardens, Nimb Hotel is part of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s "Finest Collection," which includes only 21 properties globally.

Pool

Nimb Hotel’s rooftop infinity pool is one of the most exclusive in Scandinavia. It is a serene, emerald-green private oasis floating above Tivoli Gardens. The pool, which is heated and lined with green mosaic tiles, is accessible only to hotel guests or exclusive Nimb membership club members. It offers panoramic views of Tivoli’s rooftops and the Copenhagen skyline, providing a truly indulgent experience.

During the spring and summer, the pool deck transforms into a social hub, hosting DJ nights, live jazz, and private dinner concerts under the open sky. For those visiting in season, expect flawless service, from plush loungers and chilled towels to servers delivering cocktails straight to your sunbed.

You Should Know The pool’s exclusivity comes with a catch—it’s only open from March through November, meaning winter guests will have to settle for viewing Tivoli lights from the comfort of their in-room fireplace. Alas!

Spa

While Nimb Hotel’s spa facilities don’t match those of a sprawling resort, they are nevertheless exquisitely designed. The boutique wellness area offers thoughtful treatments, prioritizing relaxation and results over gimmicks. Guests can choose from deep-tissue massages, nourishing facials, and the increasingly popular infrared therapy, which uses gentle heat to boost circulation, detoxify the body, and promote glowing skin.

The treatment rooms are cocoon-like and candlelit, with a warmth that makes them feel more like a private sanctuary than a traditional hotel spa. Therapists are highly trained, intuitive, and effortlessly attentive, ensuring every session feels bespoke rather than routine.

For guests looking to truly disconnect, the spa also offers customized aromatherapy experiences designed to induce relaxation, improve sleep quality, and melt away travel fatigue. A standout feature is the complimentary body roller for guests, a treatment that often costs extra at other hotels.

Tip If you plan to book a treatment, do so early. The spa’s intimate size means appointments fill up fast, especially on weekends.

Gym

Nimb Hotel’s fitness center is compact but impeccably curated. It caters to travelers who appreciate high-end equipment and innovative workout spaces. The Technogym machines—widely considered some of the best in the industry—are sleek and modern, offering everything from interactive cycling sessions to strength training stations. The gym is also stocked with TRX suspension training gear, free weights, and yoga mats for guests who prefer a lower-impact workout.

The hotel’s signature 34-degree Celsius hot room is a standout feature for those looking for something more intense. Designed for heat-assisted cardio and detoxification, this warm, humidity-controlled space elevates heart rate faster than a traditional gym workout, making it an excellent choice for quick but effective training sessions.

After a workout, guests can unwind in the relaxation lounge or step into the steam room or hammam for a post-exercise wind-down that feels more spa-like than gym-like.

Tip The gym is open 24 hours a day, making it easy for early risers or night owls to work out without worrying about their schedules.

Dining

Nimb Hotel’s dining scene balances French elegance, Danish tradition, and a touch of indulgence in beautifully designed spaces that make every meal feel intentional. Whether you settle into a sunlit bistro with views over Tivoli, linger over a plate of buttery smørrebrød, or slip into a patisserie filled with gold-dusted pastries and towering cream cakes, dining at Nimb is both refined and deeply satisfying.

At the heart of it all is Nimb Brasserie, a French-inspired bistro that draws both guests and well-heeled locals for its polished yet unpretentious approach to modern European cuisine. Breakfast here is an event: a spread of freshly baked Danish pastries, organic cheeses, and house-made jams, as well as a curated à la carte menu featuring everything from spinach waffles to croque madame sandwiches. Come dinner, the butter-braised cod, lobster bisque, and steak frites are perfectly executed, while three-course seasonal menus and oyster-and-Champagne pairings offer an extra layer of indulgence.

For those craving something distinctly Danish, Fru Nimb delivers one of the best smørrebrød experiences in Copenhagen. This isn’t your average open-faced sandwich—hand-peeled North Atlantic shrimp, cold-smoked salmon, or roast beef with crispy onions and house-made remoulade are all served on dense, nutty rye bread. Classics like frikadeller (Danish meatballs) and wiener schnitzel are also served. The warm,, tavern-like atmosphere makes it the perfect midday stop for a long, leisurely lunch with a glass of aquavit or local craft beer.

Cakenhagen, inside Tivoli Gardens, is a French-Danish hybrid bakery and a sugar lover’s dream (and likely a dentist’s nightmare), packed with delicate macarons, buttery croissants, and elaborate cream cakes that look almost too good to eat. Almost. The lagkage (Danish layer cake) is the signature choice, though the gold-leaf-covered petits fours and flaky kanelsnegle (cinnamon rolls) give it some serious competition. Pair it with a perfectly pulled espresso, a pot of tea, or a chilled glass of Champagne if you’re doing it right.

Tip The best, most ambience-filled seats in the house are always on the terrace—whether it’s Nimb Brasserie’s sun-drenched outdoor tables, Fru Nimb’s courtyard, or Cakenhagen’s Tivoli-facing café.

Drinking

Nimb Bar is a moody, candlelit escape where velvet armchairs, crystal chandeliers, and roaring fireplaces set the scene for some of Copenhagen’s most elegant cocktails. It’s the kind of place that feels like a hidden speakeasy, except with the grandeur of a five-star hotel. The bartenders are absolute masters of their craft, shaking and stirring classic and inventive cocktails using house-infused spirits, homemade syrups, and rare liqueurs. Whether it’s a perfectly balanced Negroni, a Champagne cocktail with a Nordic twist, or something tailored to your mood, every drink here is executed with precision and flair. The bar also has an impressive whisky and cognac selection, including rare, aged bottles that connoisseurs will appreciate. If you prefer your drinks with a side of history, you can sip on a cocktail inspired by Tivoli’s past, a rotating selection that plays on the amusement park’s old-world glamour.

The scene shifts from laid-back afternoon aperitivos to lively sunset cocktails, with DJ sets and live jazz creating the perfect summer soundtrack. Rosé flows, spritzes sparkle, and the atmosphere feels effortlessly chic—more private club than a hotel bar. And come evening, Nimb Roof is one of the most sought-after drinking spots in the city, especially on a summer night when the sun doesn’t set until nearly midnight. On nights like these, the rooftop bar provides the ultimate front-row seats to the fireworks shows hosted by Tivoli Gardens (Tivoli puts on free firework spectacles every weekend in summer, IYKYK). Whether you’re lounging fireside in Nimb Bar or toasting the sunset from the rooftop, the drinks here are a quintessential part of the experience.

Tip The rooftop is for hotel guests only, so if you’re not staying at Nimb Hotel, you’ll have to settle for the Nimb Bar’s old-world charm—which, honestly, isn’t much of a compromise .
