Gangi

Straddling the Madonie, this ancient Greek town is a fascinating place to visit. The village seems to be magically carved out of the mountains and is filled with artistic treasures and stunning mountain views from nearly any vantage point. Considered one of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia" ("Most beautiful villages of Italy"), it actually won the overall prize in 2014. These days, Gangi is popular with visitors from all over Italy and beyond. The town is a representative of the agricultural heartlands of Sicily, home to economically thriving towns that were once rich in commerce and development. This long era of prosperity gave Gangi many precious examples of art and architecture dating back to the Middle Ages.
