Small, one-of-a-kind hotels have long been the norm in Cozumel. Most of the island’s accommodations are on the leeward (western) and south sides of the island, but there’s one peaceful hideaway on the windward (eastern) side. The larger resorts are north and south of San Miguel, while the less expensive places are found in town. Cozumel also has a growing condo rental market. Rates are competitive, and condos are easily found via any of the numerous vacation rental websites.
Five blocks south of San Miguel's main plaza, this small inn consists of two-story buildings set around a lush courtyard. Second-floor rooms get far more air and light than those at ground level, but all have coffeemakers, purified water, and bathrobes. There’s also a town house with a full kitchen and two bedrooms. There is no pool, but the ocean is just a block away. Dive packages are offered at a discount.
