On a quiet cove on Freshwater Bay, this little inn has large, well-equipped rooms and is a decent base for visiting Terra Nova National Park, 25 km (15 miles) south. Breakfast is served in a small dining room that has a collection of interesting artifacts. The 10 acres of grounds include a waterside deck, a fire pit, and a nature trail through woodlands.

Overlooking Bonavista Harbour, just a few steps from the Ryan Premises, this heritage property is a great place to drop anchor for the night. Built in the 1920s as a general store, it has been completely restored, and the comfortable rooms contain locally made furniture. Downstairs, seafood stars on the menu at Skipper's restaurant, which has a great view of the busy working harbor, especially from the outdoor deck.
