7 Best Hotels in Hollywood, Los Angeles

Background Illustration for Hotels

With easy access to the Walk of Fame and trendy nightlife, Hollywood caters to partygoers and action-seekers. Movie buffs may take days exploring the vicinity, but most travelers usually spend some time walking along Hollywood Boulevard, which is a congested strip of historic theaters, bars, restaurants, and kitschy (and sometimes tacky) shops. Many hotels in the area, however, offer great views of the Hollywood sign, and Universal Studios theme park is one or two Metro stops away. This area can be rough at night. Nearby in Los Feliz and Silver Lake, you’ll find historic walkable neighborhoods packed with boutiques and cafés.

FODOR’S EXPERT REVIEW

A complete makeover in 2025 gave the already stylish W’s ultra-comfortable rooms a polished look with hardwood flooring, marble bathrooms, designer lighting, and curved couches. The curves begin in the lobby under a massive abstract chandelier of mirrored circles. Curved tufted velvet couches fill the retro-styled, sunken conversation pit. The horseshoe-shaped lobby bar overlooks both the luxe seating area and the greenery-filled patio; when the weather is fine, accordion doors open to the outside. On the roof, the pool deck sports two bars and the most luxurious poolside cabanas in Hollywood. Workout in the extra-large gym complete with Pelotons, free weights and other spiffy equipment. Upper floor rooms can face the Pantages Theatre’s historic neon-lit facade, the Capitol Records building, the famed hills and all the way to downtown. The bedside, mini-Marshall amp blue tooth speaker, along with a full bar, lets guests set their own vibe.

Pros

  • Metro stop outside the front door
  • Comes with in-room party necessities, from full bar to cocktail glasses
  • Welcoming, professional service

Cons

  • Long hallways
  • Pricey dining and $69 valet parking
  • Location in noisy part of Hollywood

The Hollywood Roosevelt

$$ | 7000 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, 90028, USA Fodor's Choice
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Hollywood
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

The historic, party-centric Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, known for hosting the first Academy Awards ceremony, has played host to some of the movie industry's most important people and events, but, it's also approachable enough for regular folks looking to experience Los Angeles. Though its rooms were recently renovated to keep them fresh, they still boast hints of the Old Hollywood era, keeping it connected to its roots. Meanwhile, the lobby's original Spanish Colonial Revival details that evoke early Hollywood glamour, including the Spanish tiles, painted ceilings, arches, and fountains, remain and are beautifully preserved. Stay in a poolside cabana room if you want to stay close to the heated, David Hockney--painted pool, or get a room at the tower if you want to be away from the poolside parties. Modern amenities include a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi and a minibar, though on-site restaurants Shirley Brasserie and 25 Degrees will keep you well fed. Seeking nightlife? No need to leave the property with a scenic lobby bar and popular Spare Room bar (with bowling lanes) just downstairs.

Pros

  • Refreshed rooms
  • Pool is a popular weekend hangout
  • Several bars and a showroom

Cons

  • Reports of noise and staff attitude
  • Stiff parking fees ($70)
  • Busy location
