KYU

$$$$ Fodor's Choice

Foodies and locavores love this eco-minded restaurant in the heart of Wynwood, which plants five trees for every tree burned in its Japanese wood-fired grill. The Asian-inspired, small-plates menu wows through creative dishes such as the epic roasted cauliflower with goat cheese and shishito-herb vinaigrette and sizzling Thai fried-rice stone pot with king crab.

The Salty Donut

$ Fodor's Choice

Oversize baked doughnuts piled high with creative toppings plus fun coffee offerings like Cinnamon Toast Crunch lattes are the reasons for the sometimes long lines at this doughnut shop. Even if the national doughnut craze has subsided elsewhere, The Salty continues to live up to the hype with a rotating menu of popular pick-me-ups like the white chocolate tres leches and guava + cream cheese, made with 24-hour brioche.

DOYA

$$$$ | Wynwood

Taking inspiration from Greece, Turkey, the greater Mediterranean and Middle East, this meze and bar restaurant consistently wins accolades for their amazing small plates that are amazing to share with many people. The drinks are creative and unique, making the perfect start and end to the meal. The best thing to do is order a mix of cold and hot meze for the table, and finish with a Turkish coffee and desert. Notable dishes on the menu include their take on muhammara (roasted red pepper hummus) topped with pomegranate molasses; the adana kebap (spiced ground lamb); and the whole grilled branzino.

Suviche

$$$ | Wynwood

A modern and healthy take on Peruvian cuisine that doesn't disappoint on flavor, Suviche is the perfect place to pop by for a great and affordable meal. You can't miss with anything you get on the menu, and the staff always has creative suggestions. Start with a fresh ceviche for the table, and don't limit yourself, make sure to get the full seafood version with shrimp, calamari, and mahi-mahi. If something warmer is needed to start, the lomo saltado spring rolls are definitely the best bet. The arroz humedo as a main is reminiscent of a risotto, with smokier flavors and is decadent when tenderloin is added on top. The smoothest caramel flan served with a fresh key-lime whipped cream cannot be missed, even if it has to be taken home.
