Attached to Serious Pie, this fragrant bakery will make you reconsider cookies as a valid breakfast choice. The coffee, fresh pastries, cinnamon rolls, and breakfast sandwiches here are delicious, but Dahlia is particularly famous for its peanut butter sandwich cookies. (According to lore, the late director Nora Ephron was such a fan of the peanut butter cookies while filming the iconic rom-com Sleepless in Seattle that she requested the recipe and briefly even had the sweet treat named for her.) The decadent coconut cream pie is also a local favorite. Lunch items, including sandwiches, soups, and salads are served until 3 pm.

Stepping foot into Lenox transports you from the streets of Belltown to the warm atmosphere of Puerto Rico and Cuba. Chef Jhonny Reyes draws on his roots in both islands and the flavors of his childhood, evident in the seasonal menu featuring tantalizing bites like snow crab hush puppies and seared halibut in an herbaceous coconut sauce, served with traditional sides like red beans and rice and plantains.

Founder Shiro Kashiba is no longer here (he's now at his namesake restaurant Sushi Kashiba in Pike Place), but this sushi spot is still the best in Belltown. Settle into the minimalist space for ultra-fresh fish and omakase service that's a bit more affordable than at other spots. The happy hour (4:30-6:00 pm Monday through Thursday) is a particularly good deal. 

The New Mexican-style breakfast burritos at this cozy counter-service spot have a cult following, thanks to a tasty homemade hatch chili sauce. Bang Bang also serves coffee, sweet baked goods, and a handful of lunch options, including tortas and vegan mac and cheese.

With a handful of locations throughout Seattle, this local roaster gets coffee just right: smooth, bold, and full of flavor. Breakfast items at the laid-back café include same-day-fresh Seattle Bagels with schmear and bagel (or pita) egg sandwiches, while the lunch menu features gyro and falafel sandwiches as well as a signature Persian rice bowl with house-made yogurt, pickled vegetables, and a choice of beef or eggplant.

Of course, you may get heart palpitations once again when you see the prices—just sit back, enjoy your luscious cut of meat, and listen to the live piano music. Valet parking is available for $12.

Straddling Belltown and the Waterfront, this bright cafe is a quiet respite among the crowds of Downtown with a more local feel to it. Coffee roasted in-house and ceremonial matcha are for the caffeine chasers, while a small bar serves local wines, beers, and cocktails for evening visits. A small selection of pastries, bagels, and donuts is on offer—and word on the street is that a larger afternoon food menu is in the works. Grab a seat at the bar top stretching along the light-flooded windows with views of the water, or in one of the cozy corners surrounded by bright paintings, and stay for a while. 

Tom Douglas dishes out his signature Northwest style, spiked with Greek and Mediterranean touches—another huge success for the local celebrity chef. Try a slow-roasted lamb leg or the big bean shakshuka. Also on the menu: a variety of kebabs (including a halloumi cheese-and-fig version for vegetarians) and scrumptious spreads including smoky eggplant, tzatziki, and olive fig. Booths are usually full at this bustling, dimly lit restaurant, which anchors the Hotel Ändra. The weekend brunch is also fabulous; save room for the doughnuts.

One of Seattle's favorite bakeries is also popular for breakfast and brunch, and an excellent place to take a delicious break on your way to or from the Olympic Sculpture Park. This Belltown favorite is helmed by superstar-chef Ethan Stowell (also of How to Cook a Wolf and Staple & Fancy), who is known for his fresh pasta. Serving up Italian goodness by the plateful in an industrial-chic bi-level space, Tavolàta is a decidedly lively, loud, and delicious night out on the town. The bar serves simple, elegant cocktails (Campari or Cynar with soda never fails). Start with an arugula and chickpea salad, croquettes, or bruschetta. Homemade pasta is the main draw here, such as fresh campanelle with dandelion green pesto, pecorino, and sunflower seeds, or pappardelle ragu. Entree offerings are traditional with flair: king salmon with pistachio and eggplant puree, or grilled steak with pickled baby veggies.
