4 Best Hotels in Grenada

Background Illustration for Hotels

Hotels and resorts in Grenada tend to be small, with friendly and attentive management and staff. All guest rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, an in-room TV, and telephone unless indicated otherwise. Most also offer complimentary Wi-Fi. During the off-season (April 15 to December 15), rates at resorts may be discounted up to 40%; however, rates at some small hotels remain the same year-round.

Cabier Ocean Lodge

$ | Grenada

Definitely off the beaten path and in a truly natural environment, Cabier Ocean Lodge is a combination guesthouse, restaurant/bar, petting zoo, and donkey ranch—all on a remote point of land high above the sea on Grenada's windward (eastern) coast. Guests have the run of the property, which extends down to secluded, reef-protected Cabier Beach and inland to the main road (about a 15-minute hike). Snooze in a hammock, rest and reflect on the beach, take a nature walk, participate in a creole or French cooking workshop. Rooms in the lodge itself surround a little zoo with rescued animals: a monkey, possum, armadillo, manicou, birds, and other small creatures; goats and donkeys roam the hillside. Several rooms have kitchenettes. Two villa units—with full kitchens, broad terraces, and a private infinity-edge pool—are especially suitable for families. This is a paradise for hikers, bird-watchers, and naturalists, while families enjoy the truly relaxed environment. The restaurant serves excellent cuisine and draws patrons from beyond the premises for both lunch (and the view) and dinner.

Pros

  • Perfect place to unwind
  • All rooms have a balcony and sea view
  • Snorkeling and fishing equipment provided

Cons

  • A long drive (45 minutes) from the airport or St. George's
  • Rooms are simply furnished, as guests seem more attracted to the outdoors
  • TV only in the lounge

La Sagesse Hotel

$ | Grenada

Secluded on La Sagesse Bay, this country inn boasts its own restaurant and beach bar, along with a salt-pond bird sanctuary, thick mangroves, nature trails, and ½ mile (¾ km) of palm-lined beach—one of the prettiest beaches in the entire Caribbean. Five large guest rooms are in the historic manor house; a nearby beach cottage has two rooms; and a more modern beachfront building has two rooms and three suites, two of which are duplex. Only one room (in the manor house) has air-conditioning. All accommodations are within 30 feet of the beach, and all except those in the manor house have screened verandahs. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings, but you'll probably want to rent a car.

Pros

  • Perfect out-of-the-way escape
  • Great place to commune with nature
  • Excellent restaurant

Cons

  • Far from everything
  • No air-conditioning (except in one room), no TV, no radios, no phones, no interruptions
  • Not the best choice for families with kids
