Blanchard House

Well located for visits to the southern section of Gros Morne National Park, this spotlessly clean 1904 heritage home has been renovated but retains its period character. Rather than the dark, heavy tones of many older properties, the interior is light, with white walls providing a pleasant contrast to the antiques and quilts that furnish the rooms. The owners also run the nearby Granite Coffee Shop, which has Internet access.

Sugar Hill Inn

$$ | 115 Main St., Norris Point, A0K 3V0, Canada

The inn is quiet and relaxing; large windows throughout the building let in lots of light, and the warm color schemes and natural wood on floors and ceilings add character to the spacious, uncluttered guest rooms, most of which have a private deck. All the food, including box lunches and continental breakfast, is exceptional.

Pros

  • Cedar-lined hot tub and sauna
  • Water comes from a spring on the property
  • Incredible food
