Hew & Draw Hotel

$$ | 55 West St., Corner Brook, A2H 2Y6, Canada Fodor's Choice

The name of this urbane hotel is a cheeky nod to the hewers of wood and drawers of water who first populated the region; the clean, contemporary decor incorporates rustic and industrial elements that gesture to the city's forestry heritage. Also on-site, the Boomstick Brewing Co. and Best Coast Restaurant offer local food and drink at its finest. The rooftop hot tubs are so popular, booking on check-in is recommended. Other amenities include laundry facilities and electric vehicle charging ports.

  • Pet-friendly
  • Free guest laundry facilities

Cons

Sugar Hill Inn

$$ | 115 Main St., Norris Point, A0K 3V0, Canada

The inn is quiet and relaxing; large windows throughout the building let in lots of light, and the warm color schemes and natural wood on floors and ceilings add character to the spacious, uncluttered guest rooms, most of which have a private deck. Host Vince McCarthy's culinary talents and educated palate have earned the inn, nestled between the mountains and the sea, a reputation for fine wine and food. All the food, including box lunches and continental breakfast, is exceptional.

  • Water comes from a spring on the property
