Why We Like It

In addition to incredible attention to detail, Venetian Las Vegas has some of the largest rooms, best shopping (at the Grand Canal Shoppes), most original entertainment (hello, Sphere), and eclectic restaurants on the Strip.

Fodor's Expert Review

A visit to this sprawling casino resort is eerily like crossing through a portal to Venice, in Italy. Manmade canals (with singing gondoliers!) replicate those in the Italian namesake, and a Vegas-style version of St. Mark’s Square is lined with restaurants and paved with “cobblestones,” just like the real thing. Including the two towers of the main hotel and the Palazzo Tower to the north (which used to be a separate property), the resort has a total of 7,117 rooms. This makes it the largest hotel in North America and second largest in the world.

PROS

  • Spacious rooms
  • All-star studded food and beverage program
  • One-of-a-kind venue in the Sphere

CONS

  • Casino floor gets loud
  • Rideshare pickup nearly a mile from hotel lobby
  • Navigating towers can be confusing

Room

All accommodations at the Venetian are suites with sunken living areas; starting at 650 square feet, they are twice the size of standard rooms at other resorts in town. After a recent $1.5-billion renovation, rooms now feature tufted red and blue leather headboards and wraparound couches in the living areas. Charging pads on the nightstand(s) replenish device batteries wirelessly. All rooms also feature mini refrigerators that guests can use to store their own items.

Bathroom

Double sinks and separate water closets are among the highlights of Venetian bathrooms. They also come standard with soaking tubs and glass-enclosed showers.

Lobby

Much like other guest-facing areas of the resort, the lobby of the Venetian is ornate and totally over the top. Under foot, tiles evoke the three-dimensional work of M.C. Escher. Overhead, the ceiling of the grand foyer is painted to look like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The lobby bar, Sala 118, has a Negroni fountain. (Yes, you read that right.)

Pool

Across both the Venetian and Palazzo towers, the resort boasts stunning rooftop pool decks, with 11 pools across 5 acres, where guests can reserve cabanas, lounge chairs, and daybeds. While these pools are laid back, Tao Beach, a day club, is more of a party.

Spa

The spa at Venetian Las Vegas also happens to be the largest outpost of Canyon Ranch, a national brand. The spa is a destination onto itself, with 90 treatment rooms and facilities spanning 134,000 square feet. All told there are more than 150 services on the spa menu—not including services from the on-site salon. Truth & Tonic, the spa café, is vegan.

Gym

The fitness center at Venetian Las Vegas also is part of the Canyon Ranch facility. It comprises three gyms, expansive locker rooms, an extensive class program, and a 40-foot-tall indoor climbing wall.

Dining

The Venetian is home to more than 30 restaurants, including globally recognized chefs Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, Tetsuya Wakuda, Eyal Shani, and Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro. New eateries include Southern California favorite, Gjelina; and the multi-experiential Nomikai Sushi Bar and Speakeasy. Via Via, a modern food hall opened in May with highly regarded concepts including All'Antico Vinaio, a famous sandwich shop from Florence. Bazaar Meat, Chef Jose Andres’ Michelin-starred restaurant from the Sahara, will open in the Venetian by the end of the year.

Tip The lunch special at Estiatorio Milos is one of the best deals in town: $45 for three courses including dessert.

Drinking

The bar scene at Venetian is varied and eclectic. Casino bars such as Electra and The Dorsey are upbeat cocktail-forward lounges, while Sushi Samba, in the Grand Canal Shoppes, is a place to see and be seen. Flight Club, also on the shopping level, takes darts to a whole new level, with cocktails, small bites, and boards that are monitored by computers the whole time you play.

The Sphere

While the Sphere isn’t technically part of the Venetian, the main indoor access point is through the Sands Convention Center, which is. This giant orb is the largest spherical structure in the world. It’s also an immersive, IMAX-style performing arts venue that has become a fantastic place to see live music as well. When concerts are dark, the Sphere shows a sci-fi film from Director Darren Aronofsky about the future of Earth. Even the movie is worth the upcharge.

You Should Know Be warned: The outer shell of the Sphere is essentially a digital billboard that plays ads all night long. Rooms that face the Sphere may be grappling with some light pollution.
