5 Best Restaurants in Castelbuono, Sicily

This Castelbuono institution has been preparing dishes with the finest local ingredients for over 30 years. Chefs Giuseppe and Francesca Carollo are dedicated to the products found in and around Castelbuono, including wild mushrooms, vegetables, "black" pork, and sweet manna made from the sap of local ash trees, which he fashions into beautiful, inventive dishes.  

Opened in 1953, Castelbuono's fanciest pasticceria has become world-famous in recent years for its panettone (and also for its collaborations with Dolce & Gabbana). Sample the indulgent panettone on the tables set up outside, and then have a coffee, pastry, ice cream, or small savory-filled croissants. The pricey panettone, sold in fancy tins, can be purchased here and in a retail shop across the road, which also stocks honey, chocolate, torrone nougat, and mountains of other merch.     

The bright, elegant dining room with exposed stone is the perfect venue for the culinary approach of chef Sandro Cicero, who creates beautifully simple yet sophisticated dishes. Castelbuono's seasonal produce includes porcini mushrooms and local caciocavallo and ricotta cheeses as well as pork, beef, and lamb, which dominate the list of mains.   

This rustic restaurant promises good home-cooked meals in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. It is housed in a typical Sicilian trattoria, with a very casual and relaxed ambience. The menu has the usual appetizers, pasta dishes and mains, and wood-fired pizza—all very generous servings at a very reasonable price.

Run by the charming and dynamic Davide di Salvo, nephew of chef Giuseppe of nearby Nangalarrini fame, this rustic, convivial spot does tasty plates utilizing the best meat, vegetables, and seafood of the Madonie and coast. The name alludes to the Unione Volontari Alcolizzati, and the restaurant has a well-rounded wine cellar and ethos fit for relaxed dining and friendly chat.
